How Room Sort works
Room Sort - Floor Plan Puzzle is a tangram-style puzzle about house plans. Each level shows the outline of a house on a grid, drawn with a yellow border, and a tray of room tiles underneath: bedrooms, baths, kitchens, halls, closets, gardens and more. Drag the tiles into the outline so that every square is covered and every room connects to its neighbours through a door. Most levels have a small warm-up plan first and then a larger main plan, and many main plans are marked HARD LEVEL. Between levels you decorate a 3D house with the coins you earn.
- Floor planThe yellow outline on the grid is the house. Every square inside it must be covered by a room tile, and tiles cannot overlap.
- Room tilesEach tile is one room with its name written on it. Tiles have their own shapes: rectangles, L shapes, slanted rooms and long halls.
- DoorsRooms are drawn with door openings. A placed room has to connect to the rest of the house through its doors, so the door positions decide where a tile can go.
- Green squaresWhile you drag a tile, green squares on the grid show where it would land.
- Two plans per levelMost levels start with a small warm-up plan of four to seven rooms, then a larger main plan. Many main plans carry a red HARD LEVEL banner.
- Holes and diagonalsSome plans have empty squares inside them or slanted outer walls. Only tiles with matching notches or slanted sides fit there.
- Hints and coinsThe light-bulb button at the top right gives a hint. Finishing a level earns coins for decorating the 3D house.
Five habits that solve most floor plans
- Start with the room that has the fewest possible places: a slanted tile for a slanted corner, a long hall for a long strip, or a room that wraps around a hole.
- Read the doors before you drop a tile. If a door would open onto a wall or the outside, that tile belongs somewhere else.
- Place the front door room (Entry or Foyer) and the hallway early. The other rooms hang off them.
- Outdoor tiles such as Garden and Terrace belong on the edge of the plan, never in the middle.
- If the last two or three tiles will not fit, take them out again and swap them: similar-looking rooms often have doors on different sides.
Questions
Is Room Sort free?
Yes. It is free to download, with ads and optional in-app purchases. See where to download it.
The video doesn't match my board. Why?
Levels are sometimes reordered or redesigned in updates. Each level page describes the picture and colours in its video, so you can tell straight away whether it is your version.
